BARBUDA OCEAN CLUB IS COMMITTED TO PRESERVING THE ISLAND’S RICH HERITAGE AND UNIQUE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT, AS WELL AS FOSTERING SUSTAINABILITY AND PROSPERITY FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. OUR COMMITMENT RUNS SO DEEP, WE HAVE CREATED A SPECIAL WEBSITE TO DOCUMENT OUR SUPPORT OF BARBUDA AND THE BARBUDAN PEOPLE.

Environment

Science and environmental consultant Dr. Deborah Brosnan leads a team of scientists and expert peer-reviewers, working in conjunction with the Antigua & Barbuda Department of Environment to shape the development and operation of Barbuda Ocean Club while restoring and protecting the natural environment. The team’s adaptive management approach currently is focused on dune restoration, sea turtle protection, storm surge analysis, climate change and sea-level rise mitigation, and environmental stewardship.

Community

Barbuda Ocean Club is supporting efforts by the Barbuda Council and the local residents to rebuild critical infrastructure and restore services to positively impact the daily lives of citizens throughout the island. Among these priorities are renewable energy, water supply, healthcare, and education. To date, we have helped provide school supplies for Barbudan students and have aided in restoring needed medical facilities to the island. These commitments will grow overtime with the community.

Economy

We are committed to creating jobs for Barbudans and to supporting local businesses whenever possible. To further this, Barbuda Ocean Club has implemented a training program to help local workers develop necessary skills, and we are giving Barbudans priority in our hiring practices. Eventually we expect Barbuda Ocean Club to create more than 1,000 jobs on the island. In addition, we also are exploring ways Barbuda Ocean Club can assist and support local businesses and entrepreneurs on Barbuda to further enhance the economic stability of the community at large.
